Privacy and Search Logging

stockscreener.ca is an educational tool. The search box is intended for stock tickers and company names only. Do not enter personal, account, portfolio, tax-return, or other sensitive information.

Recent searches in your browser

The site saves recent searches in your browser's local storage so you can revisit them. These local recent searches stay on your device unless you clear your browser data or use the clear control in the tool.

Optional anonymous search trends

If you turn on "Share anonymous search trends," the site stores a small search event for product improvement. The event includes the search text, matched ticker/company if any, best-account label, result count, page path, source control, and timestamp.

The app-level search log does not intentionally store names, emails, portfolio holdings, account numbers, contribution room, or IP addresses. Ordinary hosting server logs may separately record technical request information such as IP address and user agent.

The logging endpoint may use technical request information, such as IP address and user agent, to limit automated abuse. That information is not added to the search trend event.

Google analytics

The site uses a Google tag to understand basic traffic patterns, page usage, and whether visitors can use the lookup successfully. Google may process technical information such as device, browser, approximate location, referral source, and page activity according to Google's own privacy terms and controls.

How search trends are used

Optional search trend logs are used to understand which tickers and topics visitors look for, improve the starter universe, identify missing securities, and prioritize educational content. They are not intended to identify visitors, and the search box should only be used for ticker symbols or company names.
